About
The Sycamore Collective includes people with experience working across the technology sector, government, academia and civil society.
We have used technology to improve people’s lives and understand what it takes to do this well.
We advocate for:
- The development of technologies which support liberal democracy and resist authoritarianism
- The use of data and technology in ways which protect human rights, democratic principles, equality and inclusion
- Empowered communities and workers who can resist state and corporate oppression, including through the use of technology
We believe that to secure this:
- Technologies used by public services should be subject to independent scrutiny to ensure they meet high standards of ethics and are being used in the public interest
- Governments must rigorously regulate tech giants to combat monopolies and oligarchies
- Governments must invest in the sustainability of grassroots action for technologies serving the common good
- Technologies must be developed and used in a sustainable way that promotes environmental justice
